Alorro Beach and Hagimit Falls - Pre-summer Getaway

It’s officially summer now here in the Philippines and if we say summer, we mean beach! In a tropical country like the Philippines, summer is always the best time to go to the beach to take respite from the scorching heat of the sun.

Chasing Mini Asik-asik Falls and Assaulting Mount Karilangan Peak

It’s been 3 years since my last hiking romance with nature and I miss it so bad. To be honest, the call of nature adventure remains loud despite the fact that I have shelved the call after my Byaheng Mindanaw team disbanded. The scent of the mountain is a breath of life, a respite, a medicine, an addiction of which I can hardly get over with. And from time to time, I look back at my photographs, wondering when I will have another chance to immerse with the outdoors. Yes, I still wander. I sometimes plan a trek but it can be easily traded with the beach as my set of friends prefer it over an exhausting hike.

BULUAN FALLS EXPLORATION

8:00 in the evening when we departed at LUMOC headquarters in Lulu Village, Davao City, bound to Marilog District. It was the start of our 4 days and 4 nights long trip into the hinterlands of Davao City. The original plan was to do a pre-climb at Arakan Valley for our newly created club named "Lulu Mountaineering Club" or LUMOC but then it was diverted to Sitio Nangalid of Datu Salumay because of the unforeseen issues.

Chasing Matigol Falls of Arakan Valley

Looking back at the photographs of my past travels, I can’t help but miss all the fun that comes along with each unique trip I made through the years. And as I reminisce every moment captured, the memories of the past motivated me to share one of the unwritten saga of my wanderlust.

It has been two long years yet I still can vividly remember all the details of how, a newbie hiker like me, was able to survive the difficult (or considerably dangerous) assault to the top of the mighty Bani Falls of Arakan.
