Alorro Beach and Hagimit Falls - Pre-summer Getaway

It’s officially summer now here in the Philippines and if we say summer, we mean beach! In a tropical country like the Philippines, summer is always the best time to go to the beach to take respite from the scorching heat of the sun.

Bound to Alorro!

But just last february 17, 2018, even before summer started, we made our way to one of the secluded beaches in Samal Island. Together with friends, we took the very challenging rough road to Alorro Beach Resort at San Remegio, Kaputian, Samal Island.

With an entrance fee of 40Php for an overnight stay, Alorro Beach Resortoffers a very relaxing getaway for families and friends. Fine white sands and among the clearest waters I’ve ever swam with is what this resort takes pride off. And I tell you, Their sea water is really super clear.

Getting there is quite thrilling but at the same time exciting. From Davao City, we rode a Ferry (or more known as barge) who took us to Babak Port in Babak Samal Island. From Babak, we took about 2hrs before we reached Brgy. Kaputian. And another 1 hour before we finally reached San Remegio, where alorro beach was located. Reason is, we have a friend who’s still learning the curves of riding a motorcycle. Safety first before anything else. (Detailed transport information at the bottom of this post.)

We arrived at the beach around 9am. The beach is already quite full since it is weekend and there are currently no available rooms. Hence, we settled on a table that we rented and fixed our tents. Prepared our foods and of course, our booze.

We spent our whole day enjoying the sea breeze and each other’s company in a bottle of emperador light and a case of red horse beer. Before capping the night, We cracked an egg on our friend’s head as we were about to celebrate his birthday. Lol

Beating the heat at Hagimit

After spending overnight at Alorro Beach Resort, and just before we left the place, our friends suggested we head on to a falls in a nearby Brgy. Penaplata, Samal Island. Hagimit waterfall was among the famous falls Samal Island can offer to the visitors during the late 2000s (I’m not that old yet. lol).

Hagimit Falls, over the years, have changed a lot. From a naturally carved series of cascades you can enjoy during its early years, to the man made pools and cascades of today to cater more tourists flocking in the area, Hagimit has been into a total makeover. Add up the cottages sprouting from every available flat land surrounding the area, this falls has suffered enough of her natural beauty to welcome developments.

But, despite human’s intervention, it can’t be denied that this falls’ charisma is oozingly overflowing and is undoubtedly still the most alluring waterfalls you can visit in Samal Island.

With an entrance fee of 50 Php for a day tour, many visitors are flocking the place for its cold and relaxing sky blue waters. This falls’ resort has cottages and man made pools and cascades to cater both young ones and young at hearts. It also has a lot of comfort rooms surrounding the place. Table and chair rentals range from 150-250 Php while cottages cost 300Php to 500Php.

If you want to experience thrill, aside from jumping into the 10ft high cascading falls, you must also try a quick spelunking beneath one of its cascades. It’s a quick caving trip worth a try.

We spent the rest of our Sunday jumping around every cascade of Hagimit Falls and spelunking the short but exciting cave of Hagimit. Of course, as always, the fun and thrill we had was partnered with a bottle of Red Horse. Hehe
