Lakawero Meets Prony the Python at Bohol

Bohol province was blessed with so many attractions, heritages and tourist destinations. It was in fact known as the first class province in Central Visayas according to wiki. And, adding up to the numerous places to visit is Bohol’s very own Prony.
I was given the chance to be up-close and personal with Prony right inside her cage at Alburquerque, Bohol. Who’s Prony by the way? Prony was said to be the world’s biggest and longest python in captivity and meeting her is an honor. ^_~


According to Marimar (A tranny who was tasked to give a bit of history), Prony was captured on October, 1996 by Mr. Salibay at the public cemetery of Albur. She was named by her captor Sofronio Salibay. Prony is being kept at a Python sanctum built by Salibay family 300 meters away from where she was captured.




Owners decided to open their gates publicly due to the high demands of visitors and tourists who want to have a sneak peak of the 'Live Anaconda of Bohol'. Prony dwells on her cage together with a lemur and a bird. An entrance fee of 10Php is all worthy as you cannot only see Prony since they also have other animals such as exotic birds, monkeys, tarsiers, herons just to name a few. Plus you can also see Marimar performing live in-front of you. hehe

It was a great experience to touch this snake, a BIG snake..for the first time in my life. I can still imagine the thrill of going inside Prony's cave thinking that anything can happen in just a spit of a second. Thank God I was able to get out of the cage safe. lol
