BAGUIO CITY: Spending my first day at Burnham Park
I was a bit tired from 6 hours of bus ride to Baguio City from Manila, but as I arrived, I wasted no time and started exploring the summer capital of the Philippines.Since it's my first day, I prefer to go to Baguio City's 'mother of all parks', the Burnham Park. Designed by and named after premier American architect and urban planner, Daniel Burnham. Burnham Park remains, to this day, one of the Philippines' most well known and best-loved parks.
Burnham Park is located at the heart of the City, so I decided to take a sneak peek at this famous park since it is just a walking distance from where I am staying. The park was huge but clean, there are many activities where kids and kids at heart can enjoy and have fun.
One of the rides everyone can enjoy is biking. There are various types of bicycles you can rent and ride along the designated streets for biking. I saw many parents ride the bikes with their kids. Such an awesome way to create a priceless bonding moments isn't it.? *wink*
Aside from biking, there are numerous rides and amenities you can try such as skating, jogging, train rides, bump cars and etc. Burnham Park also has some restaurants around the corner so if you'll get hungry along the way, you can easily hop in.
Of course, your trip to Burnham Park will never be complete if you don't get the chance to ride the 'must try' boat riding in the man made lake. It is one of the main attraction of the park so if ever you visit, be sure to try it out.
Im with the Tourist Idol of Baguio named douglas. :) |
As I walk around this more or less 33 hectares of green environment, I witnessed different people, different races and different views, but there's one thing we share in common, the smiles and the joy of being able to celebrate the beauty and nature together with our loved ones.
With all the exciting activities present in just one destination, I think its all worth the visit so better plan your next vacation now and be sure to include the Summer Capital of the Philippines on your itinerary. ^_^
